THE VERY FIRST DAY, saturday
Was the free day of the week for everybody (nepal has 6workdays and school starts again on sunday)
After breakfast Manu and I jumped on the back of R occo’smotor bike and head off to a footballgame. kids of
Shangrila against a kathmandu group. As you can imagine street laws in nepal are a little different from european ones , actually, non existent. chaotic, neverending sounds of horns for: me-first-let-me-pass. Standing beside the football ground I tried to remember just some of the over 60 names connected to kids, wardens, chefs, teachers and the 2 housedogs. It seems like an impossible task. Cause names are never heard of nepalese names and those fight with impressions, feelings and pictures for their shelf space in my already overcrowded brain. Plus, far off in the distance you could see some little snowcaps of the Himalaya coming through the morning mist. And even from that distance, you have to look up, cause it seems like they hold the sky.
I couldn t really concentrate on the footballgame as you can imagine.

In the afternoon we (all kids, us, wardens) took off to a stupa, the biggest buddhist one in Ktm called Bouddhi to remember one of the wardens who died in a bus accident some weeks ago. After that we went to another temple called pashupatinath. A hinduistic place with temples and also a place where they burn their dead.
nepali bus rides mean neck ache cause even little anja is half a head too tall for nepalese buses.they are fun though with all the blinking lights inside carpet decorations at the ceiling, up to date first aid boxes…
